Ashtead Potters large Art Deco bowl

Ashtead Potters large Art Deco style bowl with convex profile in buff with brown geometric decoration below the rim, both inside and out. The bowl is 265mm (10.44 inches) x 184mm (7.25 inches) and 67mm (2.64 inches) high.

There are a number of marks on the base including ‘AM’ which is probably the painter’s initials. Also a number ‘4’ plus what is probably ‘b/4’, the ‘b’ indicating the item is a bowl.

The condition of the piece is excellent with just light crazing. There are no chips or cracks, which is unusual for such a large and delicate piece. This is an absolutely stunning piece of – not only Ashtead pottery – but also Art Deco. Very indicative of the era.
