Rare Ashtead Wembley exhibition Herrick Lion - Large size blue in original packaging

Extremely rare Ashtead Potters British Empire Exhibition souvenier Wembley Herrick Lion in original packaging with ticket and in the blue colourway. This is the rarer large size of 135mm (5.4 inches) overall width with the base measuring 132mm (5.2 inches) wide. The lion is 104mm (4.1 inches) tall. The piece dates to 1924 or 1925. Facing left the base has a legend which reads 'SOUVENIER OF WEMBLEY', facing right the legend reads 'BRITISH•EMPIRE•EXHIBITION'.

The front of the ticket reads "With Ashtead Potters' Compliments and Thanks. Ashtead Potters Limited VICTORIA WORKS ASHTEAD SURREY Telephone: Ashtead 126". The reverse of the ticket reads " Please address repeat orders to: No. 2 West Quadrant, British Empire Exhibition, Wembley, LONDON.".

The condition of the lion is excellent with just a tiny nibble to the edge of the base. Hardly noticable. No cracks and no crazing. The packaging box has a small tear and dent in the front and the ticket shows signs of age.
