Rare Ashtead Wembley exhibition Herrick Lion - Large size buff

Extremely rare Ashtead Potters British Empire Exhibition souvenier Wembley Herrick Lion in the more rare buff colourway. This is the more uncommon large size of 135mm (5.4 inches) overall width with the base measuring 132mm (5.2 inches) wide. The lion is 104mm (4.1mm) tall. The piece dates to 1924 or 1925. Facing left the base has a legend which reads 'WEMBLEY'.

The condition of the lion is excellent. There is an overglazed chip to the front of the base which was obviously done during the firing process. No cracks and no crazing.
