Extremely rare Art Deco Wembley Ashtead Potters British Empire Exhibition lidded pot which was produced in 1924 for Carson's Chocolate and Confectionery of Bristol. Originally the box was sold containing a pound of chocolated. The top of the box displays Ashtead's version of the Herrick Lion. The overall design is very Art Deco influenced.
The pot is quite large at 97mm (3.8 inches) tall and 130mm (5.1 inches) wide and shows the early Ashtead Potters mark which is in line with the date for the exhibition. There is a nother mark of 'Bp' followed by a dot, a triangle and another dot. This is likely to be the decorators mark as opposed to the model number which is 'EE'.
The lidded pot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is very light clean crazing to the item. It is very unlikey that another will be found in such superb condition.
